John Oakes/Phil and Debbie Beckers ’32 Roadster
We started with a Brookville body, a modified Cornhusker chassis and a 385HP crate motor. John initially wanted to buy Chris Staneck’s roadster but unfortunately it sold before he could get to it. So he asked me if I would build one similar to Chris’s with just a few subtle changes. Given Chris Staneck is a master at building a ’32, I was honored to follow in his footsteps! John wanted a traditional Hot Rod, and we think we hit that pretty well. He’s really happy with the finished product. It debuted on the power tour 2002, then on to Goodguys Indy and then headed home with John to Virginia. He racked up many “fun” miles over the years. It was later sold and made it’s way to Phil and Debbie Becker (who I teamed up with to build a 3 window and Vicky with). It has been featured in issues of Rod and Custom and Northern Rodder magazines. It’s also won many awards to include Goodguys Pro’s Picks and Builder’s Choice awards.
